Welcome Addison.

Yesterday was a great day. Family and close friends gathered at my mom's to celebrate her 70th birthday. How I left without a picture of my mom, I do not know. Sharon, did you get one? A special highlight of the day was getting to see my niece's baby Addison Taylor Kennedy. Here she is with the card I quickly put together for her. She was born just a bit premature, so she's still tiny. She weighs about 6.5 pounds now. I think she's a cutie! Of course because I'm her mom's Aunt, that makes me, Tina the great Aunt. What's not to love?

Me and Shelli ~ Thanks to Suzy!
Suzy and I went to the San Antonio Regional meeting last week and met Shelli. Now, I'm not one to be impressed with name and fame but it was nice to meet her. There was a line of people to meet her, I'm such the follower. I stood in line hoping Suzy would come back to meet her as well. She was pleasant, treated us all like new friends. I had a good time.
PS. In all truth, Suzy posted her picture and I was happy to be able to follow her lead. I am again, a follower! =)

Willo Dean Campbell 9.2.24 - 10.22.08
Hello all. If you've followed this blog for long, then you've met my friend Willo Dean, Willo Dean Campbell. Last Wednesday, she graduated from this life into heaven. She was bound here by dementia but loosed in heaven to praise the Lord for all of eternity. I spent lots of time with Willo Dean, learning much even in the final days of her life. I hope to live the rest of my days with such grace.

1. She liked to work hard but have fun.
2. She knew true contentment in whatever life had to offer.
3. She was grateful at every turn.
May HIS blessings shine so brightly in all our lives!

Sugar Pie
Howdy, I think my friend Suzy said this shiny shimmery paper is called sugar something. I forgot. I love, it's glitter and shine with out the mess. I bought 4 or 5 pieces to make my niece some baby girl cards. Cut up a few pieces and the baby card simply didn't come together. Well, I couldn't let the pieces go unused. They became this thank you note.
The papers is part of doodlebug design inc. They have brads and other embellishments to go with. Yippee!

Being Thankful / Color Throwdown 15
Well Fall is upon us in Texas. That's something to be grateful for. I love the cool breeze in the air, the smell of a fireplace in the distance. Ah, to await the smell of Apple pie.
Today I'm also especially grateful for my job. I work for a large package goods company and we went through a layoff today. I landed on my feet still employed but I can only pray for the unknown names let go today.
Since I was given this unexpected day off (except for my 10 minute meeting) I went to the movies. I saw Billy, the Early Years. It was a great movie , I would strongly recommend it to anyone needing a lift.

OCC bling
Good morning. OK, it's been awhile because last week I was very busy getting ready for the Austin Card Swap and working considerable overtime. Whatever I was doing, it was NOT getting enough zzzz on top of everything else. I was pumped to see the OCC challenge was bling. I love it. Don't wear it, don't have it. However, I do love it in the form of glitter. The gals I roomed with for the swap said they didn't like the mess, the dust in your clothes, on your skin, etc. Please that's exactly why I love it. Accessorizing, made easy! ")
The stamp is Tink with balloons and the paper is called Sugar paper, I think!

To quote my friend.
To quote my friend Suzy, my tired is STILL hanging out and dragging down the street. I had such a nice time this weekend, stamping with over 40 other gals in Austin. This group picture , I believe was posted by Joy. Look what a beautiful day it was! We had such a great time, I even won *** TWO *** great door prizes. 1) a ribbon holder with some assted ribbon. 2) a gift certificate to MFT with a cute bucket of ribbon from Jodi and a fabulous card crafted by Jen DelMuro. Thanks one, thanks all! So much fun!

Karen's A+ birthday.
Have you ever met someone who just makes you smile? For me, one of my church friends Karen does that. She aways has the biggest, happiest smile on her face and she's got 6 kids! She and her husband have adopted a child in addition to all the babies she's birthed. They've started a charity named after their oldest daughter. So, they're not just talking about helping others, they're living it AND leading their kids by example. Now doesn't that make you smile?

Hello my name is Skipper.

Hello my name is Skipper, and I do not follow directions well. The other day, my blog buddy Angie created a beautiful card for a swap. I admired it so deeply that I told her I'd be casing it. Next thing I recall noticing is a mid week OCC challenge posted by the talented, Julee Tilman. If I understood the instruction correctly, I was to case a card from one of the OCC blogs. While I admire each of the blogs (they are all of the mega talent proportion), I'd already set my sights on casing Angie's beautiful card. So, I did the assignment, just not QUITE following the directions. Oh well, I guess I can only ask, Do you grow weary of hearing this same tune, true that it is?

So don't you love Angie's card? I call myself Skipper because I skipped the scallop step and the extra pop on the sentiment. However, I added the wider Pink Pirouette ribbon instead.
Tada!

Scraps and challenges OCC and SFYTT together
I was thinking yesterday about how so many of the card makers I know can make such great works with the scraps on their tables. So as I was looking at some of my scraps, I came up with this. It seemed good. Then, I punched a 5 petal flower from a cereal box and it worked for the OCC challenge. I know it's pretty simple compared to most of your posts but I love that it worked for everything. For me that turns good to great.

Riley's 8 ~family party.
My friend Riley turned 8 this week. I've known her parents since they were preteens and her grandparents for just as long. We're close, they are friends, encouragers, and mentors. Which equals out to after all these years to be family. So, I'm blessed enough to be invited to family birthdays. They're small but fun. Tonight, after dinner, opening presents, and ice cream cake, there was a talent show performance by Riley and her little sister Halley. It was better than any reality show on TV. I think she liked the card, her Mimi did. :)

My take on Jen's recent SFYTT
I like these colors. With the circles in the designer paper, I thought it would be too much to add anything else. Thanks for stopping by.

Frettin' Friday
Well I'm sure it's obvious I was freetin' the storm here in Texas. It's with a full heart of gratitude that I can report my family and friends are safe. Most, are with out power but all have plans to last through the humidity and or heat until electricity is restored. The utility company expects it should take 2 or 3 weeks.

Yikes to Ike
As most of you know, I hail from Houston where most of my family still resides. This storm is looking pretty grim for those on the south side of our popular state. I know God is in control and everything will work out just fine. But it never hurts to request prayer for others. :)
Message from my church.
Hurricane Ike
Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. We want to encourage you that if you have friends or family coming up here to evacuate from Ike to bring them with you this weekend to church. There is no better place to find refuge than in the Presence of an almighty God, surrounded by with people of faith.?Let’s continue to pray for those that need our prayers, To help those who need our help, And to stay faithful to our God who is able to do more than we could possibly hope or think!

Sympathy for Janet
Some of you may remember me posting several months ago about my friend Janet getting married. So happy for her, the wedding was where I met her beautiful mom, Emma. While we're in Texas, her mom was from California and the wedding was the only time I met her face to face. Through Janet, it really seemed we knew each other pretty well. Early this year she was diagnosed with lung cancer and last week she went home to be with the Lord. So it with a heavy heart, I say "until we meet again, Emma" and pray for Janet, her husband and their family. May the God of all comfort shine brightly on you.
Everything but punch and ribbon:SU. Inspiration from my friend, Haylie.

How did God know?
How did God know is what I asked my friend Carol in this card. The earliest year I remember being friends with Carol is the second grade. She would have been in the first, she claims the 1st time I spent the night at her house as kids, I asked her to brush my teeth because my mommy always did it for me at home. Ohhhh pleeaassse! I would have been at least 7! I don't think so! But memories are selective and when you've known someone most of your life you tend not to bicker because honestly, you BOTH know too much! HA. She and my all time favorite cousin/friend came to see me last weekend. We had such a great time, they're always good for hearty laughs. I can't post Sharon's card because she reads my blog, but here's the one I made for Carol. Have a great weekend! All SU except for Martha's butterfly.

KW Color Inspiration 21

Hey guys, I went blank on this but wanted to play so I cased this card from something I found more than a year ago. Wish I remember who and or where, sorry about that. New colors, obviously! I like the card, the new in colors are growing on me. The one thing I wish is that the Kiwi Kiss ribbon was the same on both sides. Oh well, not that big of a deal and or maybe next
time. I believe it was Doris Day that sang, "What will be will be!"

My dog Daisy.
Hello friends. Did I ever tell you about my dog Daisy? My friends Brenda and Tom bought me a puppy when I turned 40. Part of the gift was the house training and they had a wienie dog of their own. By the time Daisy was house trained, she and Maggie (their dog) were big pals. It was too hard to separate them. So my dog lives with my friends. :)
On to the card, this is another piece of DP I found at Hobby Lobby. IRL it's orange and white. What can you do with dots except add the fun of more circles? Have a great day!

Mojo 51 and a Verve stamp
Hi all. Did you have a good weekend? I really did, my cousin and another old friend came up for a visit, we had a great time, I was sad to see them go.
OCC ~ 8.30.08
This week's challenge is to create a birthday card. Nothing in my stamp collection says birthday like Tink with balloons from The Cat's Pajamas. This DP was one of the ones I bought the other day from Hobby Lobby. I love this stamp and think this card would work for anyone. The gray and black tones it down from being too girlie. Right?
