Have you called Jenny yet?

Howdy all! Did you have a nice Saturday? This is what I did. I had lunch with WilloDean and went to Jenny Craig. Actually, I'd signed up on the 1st of the month. But my blood pressure was high and so JC needed my doctor's permission to put me on the program. Well that just took a few days, so I'm off.

I've been a big girl for quite some time. For some reason, I've started packing on a few more pounds lately. I saw Queen Latefah say she just wanted to get a size healthier and that hooked me in. I don't know about getting thin, bleak! Healthier sounds right. So here I go.

Color Throw Down 5

Howdy friends. I enjoy these color challenges and had the DP left over that worked perfectly. I made the small card first and just thought I should put a little more work into it.
The smaller card is 100% SU. The other card sports a stamp from STAMPENDOUS named Happy Chick. All papers and inks are SU. Have a great evening. ~ 'Til next time.

Hi all. This post is about the set more than the card. Gina recently released a new charity benefiting stamp set. I like to buy these but never more than this one. If you buy it soon, Gina will donate $4 to cancer research. Like most of us, cancer has negatively affected my family on more than one occasion. I received the set yesterday at work, just two days after a coworkers MIL passed away from her own personal battle. The daisy's may seem cheery but given the circumstance, they "feel" appropriate. Blessings!

It was just to easy too make this second card with Real Red card stock. And, I didn't want to disappoint Angie. :)

How did I get "so off"?

This was my 1st try at OCC 7. It took on a different shape, direction, and view after I got started. You could hardly call it an attempt at the sketch, so I started over. . . . .

My wish.

One of my bff's Brenda, will have a heart procedure on Tuesday. Brenda is WilloDean's daughter, so my wish, my prayer is that she'll have time to kick back and relax. Recover and recuperate in HIS perfect time. I really didn't have any direction planned for this card. I started it, didn't like it and keep working at it until it became this. I don't love it but it's better than it started out to be. I know I've seen this layout recently but for the love, I don't remember exactly where it began. I really should take notes!

Birthday Bonanza begins early.

My birthday is tomorrow but I've already received some nice greeting cards and well wishes.

I think Ill post as they came in. The first came from my Director (at work) CD. Cathy hosted a workshop for SU in March of 2007 and I was drawn in by all the matching colors, ribbons, and papers. Need I say more? Not to this group I'm sure. . . . Cathy gave me this cool tool organizer, not a moment too soon. I was outgrowing the old one. She even made the card. Good job CD!

Next, commercial cards from family and friends. Before my Dad passed away, he used to always say I was the best "card picker outer". It was sweet of him considering I'd worked for Hallmark for over 10 years. He passed away just before I started creating my own. (Even with uneven layers and messy cutting ~ I think he would have enjoyed my new found hobby). The HALLMARK in front sings, "Sugar Sugar". ~ A definite feel good tune.

Last but not least, a great SU spectacular from friend and fellow blogger, Suzy Tyler. This card is fabulous and makes me want the new stamp set all the more. I bought the new DP but love it so much I haven't cut into it yet.

Color Throwdown 4

Hi all! I like this one but probably only because I started over "several" times. I'm happy with the outcome. Here's what I learned. 1. Coloring over basic black can cause smearing. 2. Starting over can sometimes lead to a whole new easier layout. 3. Again, every thing is better with diamond dust. :) Update: This Gerber daisy is truly fab! I simply colored the flowers, all shading is part of the stamp.

Mojo Monday 48 ~

OK, here it is. I really like this sketch. I was trying to follow it as is. Maybe if I hadn't missed placed the Cuttle Bug strip of Real Red OR maybe if I'd cut the Old Olive scalloped paper straighter. . . Oh well, it was fun! All:SU

WilloDean and her unknown wittiness.

If you've followed this blog for awhile, you've seen me mention my aging friend WilloDean Campbell. She is in all honesty my friend's mom. She is 83 and probably in full swing stages of Alzheimer's. I love WDC, and started sometime last year to serve her lunch on the weekends, mainly to give my friend Brenda a break. Brenda has 5 sibs but they all live out of town and she checks on her mom everyday. In addition to being the primary caregiver, her elderly in laws (both 80 and somewhat declining in health) live with she and her husband Tom. I digress. We often sing and pray with WDC. Sometimes we do this for her amusement and sometimes to check how closely she's "tracking" with us. Like any ailment, she has good days and bad days. Today was a good day. Sometimes she doesn't respond to your questions or conversation, sometimes she does. . . .

Again, today was a good day.

I said, "I love you WilloDean."

She said, "When, right now?"

Right now and always WDC, right now and always.

By the way, the bib is more helpful for those of us serving then it is for WDC, she's much "neater" than we are.

Our Creative Corner 6 ~ challenge 7

Christmas in July. Thanks ladies for making me think about this now. I'm ashamed to say, last year, I kept putting it off and it didn't mail cards ~ at all. Yowsa! I was unhappy with myself to say the least, especially when all the beautiful cards, family letters started rolling in. I'm happy with this so I'll probably mass produce for family and friends.

All:SU except sheer Hunter ribbon from Michael's. You can't see it well in the picture but there's a little diamond dust on the star.

Does anyone else think it's comical that K's color challenge is basically the same colors used in Color Throw Down week 1? I'll still post a new card but I thought it was funny how this card would work as well? Small world!

Our Creative Corner 6 - Challenge 6 "Dry Embossing"

Hi peeps, hope you all have had a great weekend. OK, dry embossing, humm, I've never tried it but I'll give it ago. No tools yet but the challenge girls said we could fake it, I think. Isn't that what this means? Faux Embossing I tried out my new Martha Stewart punch. Like the punch, light weight, easy to use. Not 100% sold on the card, even though I will be sending it to one of my beloved graduating seniors. So, SU papers. MS punch and a fabulous VERVE sentiment. That's about a wrap. Thanks for visiting.

Sometimes I think I've flipped my lid. This is my "take" on Taylor's sketch. I meant to make this like the sketch, honest I did. 1 card, 1 ribbon,1 punch & lots of color

This card is what Julee would call "easy peasy" ~ I think it would make a great card for beginners or young stampers. As simple as it is, I really like the way it turned out. I tried to "bow" the ribbon but I couldn't quite remember the direction left on the K Werner video. So it became a routine knot because that's how I twist. :D Thanks for stopping by.

I like this picture, so fresh, so bright! I saw sunshine so I thought a card conveying "cheer up" would be appropriate. Made it once with out the background stamp, thought it needed something. Once again, the dots made the difference!

I'm convinced ~ I appreciate these color challenges. This one gave me just the incentive to make a masculine card. I'll keep it for "just the right birthday" ~ unless you think the C Chip satin ribbon is too girlie. I just love it! As you can tell by how often I incorporate it into my cards. Good morning all! This post is for Sharon, an avid reader but rare poster to my blog. When I thought of how to celebrate her birthday today (7-10) ~ I was reminded in my spirit of how Sharon is a "double" blessing to me. She is my cousin and she is my friend. I knew that I knew that I knew, God laid this song in my heart to remind me of all that HE'S given me through Sharon. See, through Christ we're sisters, through our dad's we're cousins, through a lifetime of sharing memories, laughs, and tears, we're friends. Happy Birthday Sharon! I wish you a day and a year full of HIS indescribable joy.

I think I'm going to like the color challenges. It stretches me from my "norm" colors or seasonal choices. I don't think I've ever used Sage Shadow before. I wanted to make the blossoms seem like they were cascading down the side of the card. Have a great day! SU:all

My good blogger friend Jen at http://www.allenjeni.blogspot.com/ tagged me yesterday. I love Jen's work, her blog is one of the first I remember seeing and it remains one of my all time favorites today! :) You may have seen a few of these before but they're sort of unusual and I like people to know I'm open for questions if it can help them in any way.

1. I am a breast cancer survivor. It was never life threatening, it was bilateral and has now been almost 5 years ago, praise God.

2. In recent years, I have learned more about patience and contentment from a friend who says very few things that make sense and never remembers my name. My friend WilloDean Campbell has Alzheimer's. She is my friend's mom, and lives in an assisted center near by. I help her with meals on the weekends and though it would seem I'm there to benefit her, she brings joy and contentment with each and every visit.

3. I have a slight case of cerebral palsy on my right side. I was born with it and while it may slow me down, it certainly doesn't stop me from much. My parent's main streamed me and I think it helped tremendously. I grew up with cousins and friends riding bikes, swimming, and chores just like every one else.

4. I am not a perfectionist. I realize from all your beautiful works (((and i do mean beautiful))) most stampers are. I'm just happy to play in the game. If it's crooked or cut wrong, oh well ~ I more than likely still had fun making it.

5. I love the ocean, there is nothing more descriptive to me of God's awesomeness. The vastness of it all overwhelms me. I gladly welcome the salty breeze of the ocean even during and maybe especially on the hottest days of summer.

6. Some of my dearests friends are gals I grew up with and have known all of my life. I find it comforting to "know and be known."

7. I have a "thing" about big purses and reading glasses. I like to have big tote purses whether they're popular or not. I also like to have lots of different reading or sunglasses tucked inside.
