OCC 4

Hi all! Having a good weekend? I squared this card up from the sketch but then, I'm a bit square myself so I guess it's ok. :) SU: River Rock, Basic Black, and Real Red. The quote is from E Roosevelt and it's a Stampabilities stamp ~ True Friends.

Thanks to the Brave!

It seems we only have a few more days for patriotic cards. I ordered this stamp from the AddictedtoStamps website. I used the sketch from http://www.iheart2stamp.com/ combined with~

SU: In the Stars stamps.Colors:Whisper White, Brill ant Blue and Real Red.

Happy 4th of July!

Heard and Believed

On Sunday mornings when I attend my ladies class, it seems God shines a specific pearl of wisdom that stays with me. Usually spoken by my close friend and mentor, Connie Parker. This week it is, "God does not speak to be heard but to be obeyed." Ah, there it is, shining light on the rays of sin and unbelief in my life just like the beacon of hope it is!

A star is Born!

Greetings! This is my young friend Cami. I've known her all her life, I was in fact at her parent's wedding. But today she is a star. Cami is destine for greatness. Her mom is not as "girlie girl" as me and laughs when I tear up at all her accomplishments. She has led Praise and Worship in Children's Church, sang the National Anthem at a Rough Riders baseball game in Frisco, and today she played "Kim" in Bye Bye Birdie. I am so proud of her, who wouldn't be!

K Werner Color Challenge 13

I must have at one time of another cut the current "in colors" papers into this 6 * 6 paper.
So now I can make this 6 *3 or maybe a 3 *3 card. Why did I cut it all of it before I knew how I wanted to use it? If I don't know, who would? It seems like it'd be right in line with "planning" to get a bad hair cut ~ gee whiz! I used the STEMMING FROM stamp set and well, you can see the colors. . . . . .
Have a great Friday!

Vitavegamin ~ in small doses! :D

Remember when Lucille Ball talked of feeling pooping and needing a lift about 50 years ago? Don't you think she'd be surprised to find out just what a trail blazer she was with that episode?
I think about the importance of health and wellness and just how lacking I am in that area. I really need to figure out what holds me back and I'm fairly certain I won't be taking drastic movement anytime soon. After all, I haven't thus far.
So than I began to shift to small daily changes in hopes that will spark a little something in me.

Here are my humble beginning steps.
1. I started buying "sugar free" vanilla iced coffee at Mc D's in the AM ~ after all I haven't had ICED coffee since last summer so I can't tell the difference.
2. Instead of buying DP at Sonic, I've switched to iced tea with a heaping helping of fresh strawberries added. It's tasty and those kids at my neighborhood Sonic are VERY generous with the fresh fruit!
When I wouldn't take anything completely "away" I read adding fruit and veggies would be a good choice.
3. I choose dark chocolate. Not that I won't take the other varieties, please refer to number 2, I haven't taken anything completely "away" ~ It's been said diamonds are girl's best friend but please, I know chocolate a lot better than diamonds. tehe. . . . . . .
So that's what I've done so far. Do any of you have small easy steps to add?

Cased inspiration

I cased this card from my blog friend Jen at My Stampin Spot. Please check out her brilliant work. I copied one of her creations, only mine is crooked but I love love love this Chocolate Chip satin ribbon. Hey Angie, yes I stamped today. It's a miracle on a Monday for me. Shine on!

OCC6 - Challenge # 2

Hello! Well I think this worked out OK despite my own challenges. I don't typically work with brads because (((as you can see))) I can't get them straight. Is the blurry vision that I promise you seemed to start the VERY day I turned 40? The reading glasses that are always being adjusted therefore smeared? Or the slight palsy in my right hand that prevents me from holding the paper (((perfectly))) straight? My guess is it's all three! HA! I was excited to get the thinking of you stamp clear, it's so small that's a challenge for me anyway!

This card is for my young friend Janaya (the daughter of a coworker) ~ She's serving our country in Afghanistan at the ripe old age of 22. If you have a moment please pray for Janaya and our troops, for safety, for wisdom, for attention to detail. God Bless America!

My first entry into a challenge!

Well a card making challenge that is. Our Creative Corner opened their first challenge this morning and since I could start with sketch one on time, I decided to join in on the fun. Since I'm Texan born and bred, I wanted to start with a western theme. So, I picked a stamp set from http://www.mftstamps.com/ called "Ride em Cowgirl" ~ Now you may notice my sentiment is on the wrong side and that's because I smudged and didn't have time to start over again. Yikes, I hope that's not illegal.
SU: colors and paper: Close to Cocoa, Cameo Coral, Chocolate Chip and Tempting Turquoise

Dots, dots, and more dots!

I love polka dots. I'm thankful for my friend Brenda. Who else besides Brenda bring presents to their own birthday lunch? I picked her up last Friday to take her to Uncle Julio's (her favorite Mexican restaurant) and she had gifts for me. Hard to top that! You know how your out and you see something and think to yourself, *so and so would love that* ~ she buys it and gives it to them the next time she sees them. Wow, talk about Thursday thankfulness AND random acts of kindness! She's an example of God's love in action! Thanks BJ!
SU:Apricot Appeal, Brillant Blue,C Chip, and Pumkin Pie ~ Lovely Labels stamp set. Ribbon:other

Thankful Thursday

I'm going to start something new. Every Thursday, I'm planning on posting something I'm thankful for.

Yesterday, I stayed home to wait for a repairman that never showed and never called or called back. Ugh. Then I stopped by Chik-Fil-A to get a chicken salad sandwich which I promptly dropped as I was opening the container. Shucks!
Then I looked up, and saw God's awesome sky and thought wow ~ sheer perfect beauty!

Brenda's birthday!

Posting a birthday card for my good "show up" friend. I've posted about Brenda before, she is a special friend. I live far from family, Brenda "shows up" when I'm under the weather, in the hospital, need a ride, or someone to run to the store. She's a huge blessing to me and so many others. I'll post celebration pictures soon!
Happy Birthday Brenda. Thanks for everything!
Update: Suzy T was nice enough to comment on this card and I realized I forgot to mention these two big flowers are SU die cuts. I saw Jen from "My Stampin Spot" use them and felt inspired!

I am so gimmicky!

Are you? Recently, I've seen a new commercial for a fruit drink at Taco Bell. T B is ok, sometimes, more often than not, the food doesn't agree with me.
But I go back occasionally so ~ whatever right?
On to my point . . . . . .
They have a new fruit drink called, Fruitista Freeze. It's delicious!
My friend went to run an errand at lunch and picked me up the Mango/Strawberry mix. Yummy! I was looking up calorie/nutrition info and the TB website has several live surf cams ~ Florida, California, and Hawaii. No one was surfing when I checked them out BUT it was nice to see the sand and the surf right here from my little desk in the basement! :) Check it out!

When he sees my sister Shyrl (his "GG"/grandmother) ~ he smiles really big and sings "GEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Who would not love that?

Over the Top

Why do you buy your clothes? In the last six months to a year, I find myself buying tops to please a friend. Doesn't that seem silly? But I have an aging friend WilloDean who enjoys anything "sparkly." She has Dementia, and even when nothing else sparks her, the shiny does it! More often than not, she'll ask me if she made it. I of course agree and tell her she did a beautiful job.

A closing somber thought, I was heartbroken to hear of the tragic news that Steven Curtis Chapman lost his daughter. I'll keep him and his family in my prayers, praying that the God of all comfort tends to them in this exceptionally difficult situation.

Tart & Tangy

Just a small set for a coworkers birthday. Pretty much the usual as you've seen on other blogs.

Pieces

Have you ever made a card literally piece by piece / day by day? I bought this cute PENNY BLACK stamp before Easter. Stamped it weeks ago in black, colored much like stamp was colored on the wooden block. Ruined the bird so I cut it off with my Craft Lite Cutter. Mounted on a Pixie Pink piece ~ cuttle bugged. Used the ever popular SU polka dot background stamp on Gable Green with the SMILE stamp from the Dare to be Darling set.
Piece together a great Tuesday!

What's not to love about the "bug"?

My friend recently bought a cute VW bug. When I came across this stamp set, it seemed impossible not to buy it. This card was so much fun to make! (I might keep it and start her "set" all over again!)

Mother's Day

This is the card I ended up making for my Mom. The colors match the wrapping of the gift. I bought the ALL HOLIDAYS stamp set, it came in the box but mysteriously enough, I've misplaced the entire set. So I used a sentiment from the ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS set. My mom is fab but I don't think she reads the blog so it's ok to post it as I mail it.

My 1st attempt at a color challenge

Last night K Werner posted her 7th color challenge at http://kwernerdesign.com/blog/

So I made my attempt. I think I used all the right colors, it just wasn't "right." I think maybe I should have layered the cupcake. . . Oh well, there's always another day.

Earth Day

Hi - long time no post! I've really been under the weather, under inspired, under energized lately. Ugh! But i can see it turning around now. Praise God! My up line with Stamin' Up sampled this card last night in her "Earth Day class." I like it and will use it as a sympathy card for a friend who's Dad recently passed. I like how tall the tree stands, it reminds me of an East Texas Pine. Plus, I like the masculinity, it's harder to come up with manly cards. . .
