Thanks to my friend - Dana :)

Today at work we had silent and live auctions. I was busy at the time of closing and would have lost my only bid except for the help of my great friend Dana. After seeing I'd lose my bid, my friend moved my vote to something I would be able to win. Hip hip hooray! Doesn't this basket look yummy? The plan for now is to use for a Christmas gift, I hope it stays wrapped that long! HA!

Fe Fe Fiona's Funnies

It appears Fiona only eats when I'm here. She brings as much food as her little mouth can hold, drops it by my feet, then eats one morsel at a time.

Here is a picture of Fe with "her baby." She fetches her baby, loves her baby, and likes to wag him around. Funniest when she was a pup because the 7 inch plush toy was bigger than she was!

My "Show Up" friend

My friend Brenda is my "show up" friend. A couple of nights ago she called me saying her husband was out of town and she'd locked herself out of her car. I was already asleep for the evening but unquestionably agreeable to getting up, dressed, and on my way to help her. She seemed puzzled that I got out to help without complaint or push back. Who would I be to do that? Why would I not? You have no idea how many times I've relied on her as my "show up" friend. Just to name a few. . . . She did my laundry every week when I worked two jobs and was with out a washer and dryer. She goes with me to appoints, waits in the waiting room during my surgeries, and completely nurses me back to full health during my recovery times. Here she is with her Mom, WillowDean Campbell. Yes, I am very grateful for my "show up" friend. Do you have one?

Thursday three

I ran across a cute posting about Thursday's Thirteen.
(A fun attempt at getting to know yourself and other bloggers, gee wil-a-kers Batman, I don't know 13 things to post! So, I made an altercation.)

1. I am a breast cancer survivor which seems odd to say because while it was cancer, I went through surgery, radiation, yada yada yada. . . . my surgeon assured me it was a long way from life threatening. I never lost my hair altho one day in the cancer center I murmured a prayer to switch places with a high school cheerleader who had just been told she'd be losing hers. Brother, could there be a worse time?

2. On most days I have one of my Dad's handkerchiefs in my purse. It is a comfort to me because after countless washings, it still has the same smell as when he'd hand them over during funerals and weddings.

3. I was born with a slight case of cerebral palsy. It is on my right side and so slight that as a child few people hardly noticed. As I've aged, it's become more apparent. In all honesty, it slows me down but does not keep me down! :0)

Your three?

Home

So many things have been written about home. (I'll be home for Christmas. ~ Home is where the heart is ~ just to name a few.) Home for me right now is where my Mom lives. The house she lives in now however, has never actually been my home. But in many ways, my home is with her. Today, as I left her house to drive back to my apartment in Dallas, I missed my Dad. Even though he's passed away 18 months ago, it still seems strange to not say good bye to him as I get ready to leave the house. I wonder if we all feel that way to one degree or another. I was thinking of how our ultimate home (for all those who accept Jesus as Lord) is in Heaven with our Heavenly Father. So I guess yes, "home" is always where your parents are! :)

My brother - Billy

I think my brother is amazing. He is funny and smart, a great dad and husband. He's always been very good to our parents. Especially great to my mom since our dad passed away about a year and a half ago. I appreciate him. He's got a stressful job with a very long commute and still finds time to help our mom around the house. This morning he put up a new shelf in her bathroom and here - I caught him changing the bulb above her kitchen sink. The great thing about these "high jobs" - he's incredibly tall and needs no step stool or ladder seen here, he is amazingly enough (pretending) to hold up my mom's ceiling. . . .

Halloween treat

My coworkers wanted to make this last week but we ran out of time. One of them requested it as a small gift for her granddaughter's daycare teacher. I'm not a big fan of Halloween but this was easy and fun with the Stampin' Up Creepy Crawly paper. I also used the scallop punch, textured pumpkin paper as the base, and one of the Batty for You spots loaned to me by my up line ~ Martha. You can find her fabulous work at http://www.mcsqrd.blogspot.com/ ~
Sorry the picture is so dark, I should have really thought twice about that black background. I'm sure I cased this from another blogger but for the love, I can't find it now.

Fall

In Texas - this last for a few short weeks so you have to enjoy it while you can. These are my favorite fall pictures. Same tree / same day!

Pick a Petal

This polk-a-dot pick a petal piece makes me smile. This Saturday is National Card Making Day.

Have you tried it? It's a lot of fun!
