An Easter gift

A thoughtful Easter gift turned into it's own thank you note. My preacher's wife and friend Geni has for as long as I can remember, given me an Easter gift. It started out as a basket from her children but now, they're grown and she carries on the tradition. She is so thoughtful! She knows I started making cards last year, so for Easter she gave me this cute card set and some marshmallow bunnies. The bunnies were shared with friends yesterday. Well, does Easter candy last long at your house? ")

I bought two stamp sets for Easter. The thought was to make Easter cards since since I made zero / zip / nada cards for Christmas. I hated that but at least, I finished this one for my mom so I can get it in the mail in the morning.

I made this card for a co workers birthday. The plan was to make a small set. However, it's after midnight and I've already thought of a great background stamp to improve this card. And it's the only one I made, so I'm done. Happy Birthday Jennifer.

A Great Nephew Update.

Why do this?

I started to stamp for a couple of reasons. 1. It is fun to create. 2. I've always wanted to send notes, cards, and wishes to people that may otherwise not hear from many people. My great Aunt Medelle! How I love her, my grandmother passed really early in life but my Aunt Medelle stepped up and acted as a "step in" grandma. My sister even lived with her for a short while.

But today, this is a birthday card for a friend of a friend ~ Ethelyn. A kindhearted 83 year old widow who goes to our church. Happy birthday Ethelyn.

Simple card ... loving wish

A friend since we were kids is celebrating 25 years of marriage this week. This is the simple card I made she and her husband to let them know I remember. I remember the wedding, wearing the pink taffeta dress, the four terrific children they've had, the positive example they've set for family and friends. It'd be hard to love them more!

Baby Cedric comes home.

A young lady in my Women's bible study class had a baby boy last November. He only weighed 3 pounds because he wasn't due to be born until almost February. Yep, he was born at only 25 weeks. Now, months later, after prayers, surgeries, good health care and more prayers ~ Cedric is almost 7 pounds! Praise God. Now he's home, my class is throwing his momma a baby shower. Here's the card I made.

Yesterday it was 66*

Today, we have this! 1st rain , then sleet, then freezing rain, then snow. Again for the second time in two days but 1st time all season. I was sent home early from work. I know that seems crazy for people up north. Texas has many great qualities and there's no place else I'd rather live but, no tire chains, no snow plows. By morning this will be black ice, hard to see and dangerous for travelers. Good thing it melts away a few hours after the sun comes up.

Today in Texas

When I woke up this morning this snow was outside. First snow this season and very light. It was 33. The funny twist to this post is, 3 days ago the high was 80!Giving truth to the old statement, if you don't like the weather in Texas, stay 5 minutes, it will change!

A good day for Sunshine

As you may have read in previous posts, my aging friend WilloDean has her ups and downs. Well Saturday, she was WAY up. It was such a joy to visit with her. Thank you Jesus. BJ sings certain song with and to her as do i. One thing that I've begun to sing is, "You are my Sunshine." On Saturday, in a rare turn of events for her recently, she sang loud and proud. She sang it several times. We recorded it once for BJ and she had a clear conversation with Freda. Way to go Willo, you are my sunshine. :)

The missing condo mate

I work in 4 square cubicles. We called it the condo section of our office. My coworker Bev has been out of the office for several weeks recovering from shoulder surgery. I cased this card from another blog I'd admire so the rest of the mates could send her a greeting. We certainly hope her recovery is speedy.

Are you reasonable? Am I?

I work for a wonderful and large pgc. (Is it pgc or pcg? Anyway, packaged goods company OR packaged consumer goods? I think by now you know what I mean.) Part of my responsibility is to accurately document and report quality concerns. I always knew this would be or should be a good fit for me as i enjoy the art of communication in most forms. Talking, IM'ing, texting ~ etc.

We are widely known for standing behind the top quality of our everyday consumable goods. I love that, in all honestly, most of my working life has been spent in only two companies that I have always been proud to work for. My question is, if you are disappointed in a product ~ do you contact the company to inform them? To get something off you chest? Because you somehow feel entitled? Do we live in a imperfect world all the while expecting perfection? I appreciate consumers reporting quality concerns so we can continue to improve our much loved products. So my question is, what's with the attitude? Are you really upset that once in your life the product was a let down? Are you not relieved it can be reported and replaced over a short phone call? How do I in turn treat others?

I've made this card before but I jazzed it up a little for my friend Camille. It's made mostly from Stampin Up's BIG BOLD BIRTHDAY set. I like it ~ but I like all the two step stamp sets. The top of the cupcake is a half cut scallop with a little diamond dust sprinkled on.

WilloDean update ~ What a difference a nap makes!

I wish I'd blogged about my experiences with WilloDean for the last several years. It has been amazing, God teaches me so much from a friend who says very few comprehendable things and doesn't ever remember my name. None of that matters. On to today, Brenda is yucky sick. So while she wants to see her mom, it's just not a great idea. So I went to feed her lunch and dinner. When I first got there this morning, she was sort of slumpt over in her chair. Something that Brenda says happens because she suffers from mini strokes or TIA's. When lunch was ready, she ate most of her meal and then her caregiver Peaches, put her down for a nap. When I went back at supper time, she was doing so much better! She was sitting straight up and had already downed almost half her egg salad sandwich. I helped her with her medicine (which she told me looks bad) and it does, chips, yougart, cake, and we always encourage her to drink the water. She tryed to sing a hymm with me, told me she was happy, and on her own, thanked me for coming to help her. She is to me, such an example of God's love in action. What a difference a nap makes.

Introducing Jane. . . .

I originally bought this stamp, "Jane" from Rubber Romance because she reminded me of my cousin ~ Sharon. After I put together this card, I decided I could make extras and sell them with the proceeds benefiting breast cancer awareness. My beautiful niece Shelby is walking for the cause in April. What do you think?

Wii what?

Yesterday was great! I spent time with some of my favorite people. Parker people! Alex bought a WII game for his family for Christmas. We built characters, they boxed, they bowled, they boxed again. Fun!

Christmas day!

Christmas day, my mom and I went to my brother Craigs. We walked in and Hayley was picking at the food, hungry, and ready to eat because what? No opening presesnts until after lunch? Yikes, what's up with that? So, Hayley was very polite about filling the tea glasses and clearing plates. She is after all a nice teenager but her ultimate goal was to open her lap top and printer. She quickly scurried all her gifts to her room and I didn't see her again. :(

A flocking of friends at Christmas.

After the carols, tree, turkey, and pecan pie, a small group of my childhood friends gathered together to share some laughs and good times. Well, at least that was the intent. On this particular Christmas two of Carol's girls went with us but one wasn't feeling well, so they shuffled out early. My cousin Sharon who I completely adore, let a random driver totally rattle her otherwise good nature. Then to top off everything else, I feel asleep just after we sat down to watch a movie. Sorry gals, I'm no good late at night.

Wow! Our family is growing and growing up. My sister Shyrl, "GG" tries Uncle Billy's giant hat on the baby, various family members open gifts, my niece Shelby cuddles with my great nephew Brayden, the beautiful Kassie sports her new winter hooded jacket, and my sweet niece Shyanne flashes me a Christmas grin! It's always good too see them!
